University of Hawai'i junior Emma Friesen finished third, behind two Olympians, yesterday in the 1-meter springboard at the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in College Station, Texas.
Friesen earned All-America honors for the third time. She was one of three named NCAA Women's Diver of the Year last year after winning the 1-meter championship and finishing sixth in the 3-meter.
Yesterday, the junior from Canada finished with 331.35 points (preliminary points did not carry over). Houston's Anastasia Pozdniakova won with 351.15 and Christina Loukas of Indiana had 339.80. Both red-shirted last year to prepare for the Olympics.
Friesen will compete in the 3-meter event today.
