UC Davis sophomore Brandon Low, a 2006 Saint Louis School graduate, lost his second-round match in yesterday's NCAA Wrestling Tournament but came back to win in the consolation round and will be in action again today at St. Louis, Mo.
Low, wrestling in the 133-pound division, lost to No. 11 seed Mike Grey of Cornell, 10-8, after leading for most of the match. Low then defeated Central Michigan's Conor Beebe, 3-2, in the consolation bracket.
He meets Filip Novachkov of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo today. In two earlier meetings this season, Low lost to Novachkov and tied him once.
Low, one of only three wrestlers in Hawai'i history to win four individual state titles, finished fourth in the Pac-10 Conference championships two weeks ago and received an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament.
