Portland pounds UH, ends Rainbows' 8-game win streak

Garrett Queen drove in six runs and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle and Portland demolished Hawai'i and its eight-game win streak, 13-2, today in the second game of the Rose City Invitational at PGE Park in Portland, Ore.
Hawai'i beat Washington, 9-7, in 10 innings earlier in the day.
Queen hit a two-run home run in a four-run second, a two-run double in a three-run third and a two-run single in a five-run fourth.
Mark Triolo (3-2) allowed two runs, five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in seven innings for the Pilots (12-7), winners of four in a row.
Jared Alexander (0-1) was rocked for seven runs and seven hits five for extra bases in 2 2/3 innings for the Rainbows (11-7).
The Pilots scored four in the second against Alexander to take the lead.
Bryant Kraus led off with a triple to right-center and scored on Chase Powellıs triple to left-center. Powell scored on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. Riley Henricks doubled to right-center and stayed there when Austin Pearce grounded out to third. But Garrett Queen homered to left to make it 4-0. Kevin Armijo was hit by a pitch and took second on Kris Kauppilaıs single. Craig Smith grounded to second for an inning-ending double play.
Hawai'i got one back in the bottom of the second. Jeffrey Van Doornum led off with a triple to left-center and scored when Matt Roquemore grounded out to short to pull UH to 4-1. Christian Johnson singled to center and took second when Ryan Morford singled to right before Kevin Fujii was called out on strikes. Greg Garcia was hit by a pitch to load the bases. But Kolten Wong grounded out to first to leave the bases full.
Portland added three in the third. Kraus singled with one out and Powell was hit by a pitch. Hernicks flied out to center, but Pearce's RBI single moved Powell to third and Henricks took second on the throw home. Alexander was pulled for Alex Capaual. Queenıs two-run double make it 7-1 before Armijo flied out to center to end the inning.
The Pilots sent 10 batters to the plate in a five-run fourth. Kauppila led off with a walk and one out later, took second on Fraserıs single. After Kraus struck out, Powell walked to load the bases. Kauppila scored on a wild pitch and the other advanced before Henricks walked to load the bases.
Pearceıs two-run double made it 10-1 and Queen followed with a two-run single to make it 12-1.
Hawai'i got a run back in the fourth on an RBI single by Garcia to make it 12-2.
Fraserıs solo home run in the fifth increased Portlandıs lead to 13-2.
