Jury deliberations in the Pali golf course murders case continued for the fifth day today in federal court.

Rodney Joseph Jr. and Ethan "Malu" Motta are accused of using murder, robbery and extortion to further a racketeering enterprise that centered on illegal gambling operations in Hawaii.

The pair allegedly murdered two members of a rival underworld group January 7, 2004 in the golf course parking lot.

The jury began deliberations March 12.

Jurors yesterday were allowed to re-listen to a tape-recorded conversation between Motta and an FBI informant that took place in October 2004.

Today they sent a note to U.S. District Judge Susan Oki Mollway asking for clarification of one charge in the indictment concerning conspiracy to commit extortion.
