MLB: Red Sox SS Julio Lugo has knee surgery

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Red Sox shortstop Julio Lugo has undergone arthroscopic surgery in Boston on his right knee.
The team's medical director, Dr. Thomas Gill, performed the procedure on Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus cartilage. Lugo is expected to be out for three to four weeks.
Red Sox manager Terry Francona said Lugo probably will stay in Boston for five to seven days to recuperate and begin physical therapy before returning to spring training.
Lugo played one inning in the field in Friday night's game against the New York Yankees before being taken out and sent for an MRI.
