ROME — Marathon runner Alberico Di Cecco has been suspended for two years by the Italian Olympic Committee after testing positive for EPO.
Di Cecco finished ninth at the 2004 Athens Olympics. He failed a test at the Italian championship in Carpi on Oct. 12.
In 2005, Di Cecco won the Rome marathon.
The ban announced Tuesday retroactively began Oct. 12, 2008 and will expire Oct. 11, 2010.
