WAILUKU, Maui — Maui residents who have let their home refuse pick-up accounts become delinquent have until Friday to bring their payments up to date, county officials said.

Accounts that have not been paid in full by 4 p.m. Friday, March 20, will be closed immediately and a $30 service fee assessed for any accounts that are reopened, officials with the County of Maui's Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division, have announced.

Refuse bills of $84 for the period of Jan. 1 to June 30, 2009 were due Feb.13. As of March 6, there were approximately 2,200 delinquent residential refuse accounts. To avoid an interruption of service, accounts must be paid in full by March 20.

Payments may be dropped off at the Refuse & Landfill Accounts office located at One Main Plaza in Wailuku, 2200 Main St., Suite 175. For more information, call the Solid Waste Billing Section at 270-1731.
