Big Island police investigating attack on Saddle Road

Advertiser Staff

Hawaii County police say a woman in a car parked on the side of Saddle Road in South Kohala was attacked yesterday.

Police said they responded to the incident about 8:15 a.m.

They said the woman was in her car when she was approached by a man who demanded her keys and wallet. When the woman refused, the man allegedly stabbed her in the left arm.

The woman started her car and drove off, while the suspect drove a gray primer-colored Toyota pickup truck in the direction of Hilo, police said.

Police described the suspect as a male in his late 40s, about 5 feet 10 and 220 pounds, bald and wearing a red T-shirt and blue shorts.

The victim was treated by rescue personnel and released.

Detective Myra Iwamoto of the Kona Criminal Investigation Section is continuing the investigation.
