The Agena family's Moanalua Valley home will soon have a modern, stylish and kid-friendly living room, courtesy of the RSVPstyle/Honolulu Advertiser $30,000 Dream Home Makeover contest.
Postal worker Chris Agena entered on behalf of his wife Jo Ann, a public school teacher and mother of four kids ranging in age from 3 to 10.
In his entry, which beat out nearly 1,300 other hopefuls, Chris wrote: "My wife wants our house to look like the ones on TV. She watches every home improvement show, but they never show homes in Hawai'i."
Cathy Lee, founder of RSVP Style, is going to change that over the next few months, with lessons on how to create a dream living room with $30,000 in furniture, flooring and home improvement designs.
The transformation will be recorded for a one-hour special airing June 4 on KITV, so viewers can also learn how to transform their homes with color, texture, layering and style.
The special will be all-local, with a focus on giving easy, useful pointers and visiting shops around Honolulu.
