Cesar Millan — star of the Emmy-nominated National Geographic Channel hit series "Dog Whisperer" and a best-selling author — yesterday became a U.S. citizen.

Millan took the oath yesterday morning with dozens of others in Montebello, Calif., just north of Los Angeles. Cesar's wife, Ilusion, and sons, Andre and Calvin, were there to cheer him on (they are already U.S. citizens).

"This is the ultimate culmination of living the American dream," Millan said.

Millan was born in Mexico.

STING'S VINTAGE READY TO POUR

ROME — As he sings of "Fields of Gold," British rock star Sting is tending fields of grapes and preparing to market red wine made at his estate in Tuscany.

Some 30,000 bottles of the wine will go on sale in September, mainly in Britain and the U.S., estate manager Paolo Rossi said yesterday. Rossi said it will be a 2007 sangiovese, blended with touches of cabernet and merlot.

In 1997, the former Police frontman purchased a 16th-century villa, Il Palagio, in the small village of Figline Valdarno, south of Florence.

SMALL TOWN GETS U2 MINI-CONCERT

SOMERVILLE, Mass. — U2 revved up a small city and riled a core of rabid fans when it gave a largely unpublicized concert in a venue a tiny fraction of the size of the stadiums it plans to fill later this year.

The Irish rock band played the 1,000-seat Somerville Theatre in Davis Square on Wednesday night as fans swarmed the area, looking for a way into the show or for just a glimpse of the musicians.

The group played five songs, four from its new album, "No Line on the Horizon."

U2 was big in the Boston area before it was big everywhere, and played at Boston's Paradise club in 1980.

ANNA NICOLE'S BEAU CHARGED

LOS ANGELES — Anna Nicole Smith's boyfriend and two of her doctors have been charged with repeatedly supplying the former Playboy centerfold with addictive prescription drugs for nearly three years before she died of an overdose, California authorities said.

Smith's boyfriend, attorney Howard Kevin Stern, 40, and doctors Sandeep Kapoor, 40, and Khristine Eroshevich, 61, have been charged with conspiring to "commit the crimes of prescribing, administering and dispensing controlled substances to an addict" and "unlawfully prescribing a controlled substance."

Smith died Feb. 8, 2007, at age 39 at a luxury hotel in Hollywood, Fla. A medical examiner ruled that the reality TV star died of an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

'DAILY SHOW' HITS 'MAD MONEY'

NEW YORK — Jon Stewart hammered Jim Cramer and his show's network, CNBC, in their anticipated faceoff on "The Daily Show."

In an interview taped yesterday that went far beyond its allotted time, Stewart chastised the "Mad Money" host and CNBC for putting entertainment above journalism. He also accused the financial news network of willfully ignoring corporate dishonesty.

Cramer disagreed with Stewart on a few points, but mostly agreed that he could have done a better job foreseeing the economic collapse. Cramer called himself a "fan of the show" (Stewart's show) and said his network was "fair game" for Stewart's criticism.
