Senate confirms Recktenwald as Hawaii Supreme Court justice

The state Senate today voted unanimously to confirm Mark Recktenwald as an associate justice to the state Supreme Court.
The vote was 22-0 with three senators excused.
Recktenwald, 53, was nominated by Gov. Linda Lingle to succeed retired Associate Justice Steven Levinson.
She also appointed Recktenwald to be chief judge of the Intermediate Court of Appeals in 2007.
Before that, he was director of the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and an assistant U.S. attorney.
He graduated from Harvard University and the University of Chicago Law School.
