About 1,000 schoolkids from Oahu got a sneak peek this morning at what will be in store for folks attending this weekend's 15th Honolulu Festival.

The special field trip took the kids to the Hawaii Convention Center, where they were engaged in hands-on activities and demonstrations by festival particiapants.

The Honolulu Festival highlights the diversity of cultures in the Pacific Rim, including those of Japan, Australia and Alaska. If offers performances, displays, games and food.

The festival runs today through Sunday, culminating with a late afternoon parade through Waikiki.

Events are open to the public at the Convention Center, Ala Moana Center, Waikiki Shopping Plaza and Waikiki Beach Walk.
