A 31-year-old Kapolei man was sentenced to life in prison this morning for repeatedly sexually assaulting his infant child and videotaping the crimes.

Prosecutors believe it is the harshest sentence ever handed down in Hawaii for a sex offense. Life with the possibility of parole is a sentence that is usually applied to convicted murderers.

Under terms of a plea agreement with prosecutors, Danny Friddle will not ask for parole until he has served at least 15 years of the life term, while the state will ask that Friddle's minimum term be set at 20 years.

The crimes came to light when a videotape was found at a bus stop in Kalihi and turned over to police.

To this day, it is not known who left the videotape at the bus stop.
