Work continues on water main near Honokai Hale, residents urged to conserve

While Board of Water Supply crews continue to work on repairing the busted 24 inch water main on Farrington Highway near Honokai Hale, residents are urged to conserve water, officials said.

Traffic is not affected by this work, which is located off the shoulder of Farrington Highway, town-bound after La'aloa Street.

The water main is used to fill Leeward coast reservoirs, water officials are urging residents from Honokai Hale to Makaha to use water sparingly and for "priority needs only." That means only for cooking, drinking and personal hygiene, officials said.

Residents should refrain from doing laundry, watering lawns, or washing cars at this time. A water wagon has been sent to Nanakuli Avenue near Nanakuli High school football field just in case, officials said.

The replacement of the water main was part of the Farrington Highway water systems improvement project, which is currently ongoing.
