HOT IN HAWAII: ALL-AMERICAN REJECTS

Emo's poppiest guys make a stop in Honolulu this weekend in support of their third album, "When the World Comes Down."

With a string of hit songs like "Swing Swing," "Dirty Little Secret," "Move Along," "It Ends Tonight" and "Gives You Hell" already chart history, The All-American Rejects are either really great artists, or they just make really fun radio music for a generation that's too young to remember Weezer.

For our part, we already know they're popular and seem to be on the cusp of something big.

Tickets for the band's first show at Pipeline Café tonight sold so quick that a second show was added for Saturday night. In another year they may be too big for this venue, so enjoy now.

The only thing we're worried about is jetlag: The Stillwater, Okla., foursome is flying into Honolulu today from Japan, where they played last night and Wednesday night at the O-East Venue in Tokyo.

MUST-SEE MOVIES

The Honolulu International Film Festival (not to be confused with the Hawaii International Film Festival) opens today for a three-day run of indie films. First on the sked is the multi award-winning “The 27 Club” about a fictional musician who takes his life at age 27. Hilton Hawaiian Village Coral Ballroom; $8. Go to www.honolulufilmfestival.com.

CD ALERT: ‘SCREAM’

It was just a matter of time before the dude from Audioslave got Timbalanded. It happened, and there’s an album to prove it. “Scream,” Chris Cornell’s Timbaland-produced record, drops March 10.

GET READY FOR RETAIL MADNESS

Under other circumstances, a retail chain would never make our hot list. But we’d be lying if we didn’t admit the opening of Hawaiçi’s first Target stores in Kapolei and Salt Lake are gonna be huge attractions. Plus, Jake Shimabukuro’s new album, “Live,” will be sold exclusively at Oahu’s Target stores from March 8 to April 14 before going on sale everywhere else.

FIRST FASHION THAT ROCKS

We’re not even close to being over First Friday, and if you check out “Rock Shop” (4-9 p.m.) at Loft Gallery and Lounge, you won’t be, either. This event’s gonna rock.
