High surf advisory continues for all east shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect for the east-facing shores of all Hawaiian islands through 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Rough surf of 6 to 9 feet is expected to continue along the affected shorelines at least through tonight.

Dangerous shore breaks and rip currents are expected, the weather service said.

Elsewhere on Oahu today, look for surf of 6 to 10 feet along the North Shore, 1 to 3 feet along west-facing shores and 1 to 2 feet along south-facing shores.

Outlook through Sunday, March 8: The combination of persistent, short-period swells from the northeast and locally generated seas from fresh to strong trade winds will produce rough surf rising to the east shore advisory level of 8 feet through Thursday.
