High surf advisory posted for all east-facing shores

Advertiser Staff

A high surf advisory remains in effect for the east-facing shores of all islands, the National Weather Service said

.

Rough surd of 7 to 9 feet is expected today along the affected shore lines.

The advisory will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday.

There is a potential for large breaking waves and dangerous rip currents, the weather service said.

Elsewhere on Oahu today, look for surf of 6 to 10 feet along north-facing shores, 1 to 3 feet along west-facing shores and 1 to 2 feet along south-facing shores.

Outlook through Saturday, March 7: The combination of persistent, short-period swells from the northeast and locally generated seas from fresh to strong trade winds will produce rough surf around the east shore advisory level of 8 feet through much of the upcoming work week.
