Proving that last week was no fluke, the Waikiki Beach Boys made it back-to-back regatta victories yesterday in the Na 'Ohana O Na Hui Wa'a organization.

Waikiki Beach Boys won the Na Keiki O Ka Mo'i Regatta at Ma'ili Beach.

Waikiki Beach Boys won 12 races and finished with 67 points. Waikiki Beach Boys is actually a medium-sized club that competes in the AA division.

Last week, it won its first regatta of the year.

The highlight of yesterday's regatta for Waikiki Beach Boys was a sweep of the prestigious men's and women's senior races.

The women's senior crew of Jen Polcer, Rachel Bruntsch, Kelsa Teeters, Andrea Messer, Dana Gorecki and Kaui Pelekane won the 1 1/2-mile race by an impressive 1 minute, 30 seconds.

Manu O Ke Kai won the AAA division for big clubs and placed second overall with 59 points. Koa Kai was second with 55.

Kane'ohe — another AA club — scored 48 points. Kane'ohe had won the first three regattas of the season.

Ka Mamalahoe won two races and scored 20 points to top the A division for small clubs.

It was the first time this season that Ka Mamalahoe won the A division.

The next Hui Wa'a regatta is scheduled for Sunday at Ke'ehi Lagoon.

TRIATHLON

MARR, MORRIS WIN

Timothy Marr and Maggs Morris won the overall titles of yesterday's Firecracker Sprint Triathlon in Kalaeloa.

Marr finished the 500-meter swim, 11-mile bike ride and 3.1-mile run in 55 minutes, 30 seconds.

Ian McDowell was second in 57:26 and Greg Price third in 58:33.

Morris clocked 1:03:39 to top the female division. Amy Cocanour was second in 1:08:54 and Jaime Jarrell third in 1:10:53.

GOLF

YAWATA WINS BY 8

Kyle Yawata shot a final-round, even-par 72 at Pearl Country Club yesterday to win the A flight of the President's Cup by eight strokes.

Yawata finished the 54-hole tournament at 1-under 215.

Lin Akiyama shot a 70 — the low round of the day — to finish at 225 and win B flight by four strokes.

Mark P. Milton, a 15-year-old from Mililani, shot 80—238 to win C flight by one stroke.

VOLLEYBALL

USA BEATS MEXICO

Nancy Metcalf scored a match-high 20 points as the U.S. women's national team defeated Mexico, 25-19, 25-14, 25-11, last night in Pool A of the Eighth Women's Pan American Cup at the University of Miami's Bank-United Center.

Team USA, which includes former Hawai'i All-American Heather Bown, improved to 3-0 while Mexico fell to 0-3.

"Mexico is a good team and played hard tonight," U.S. head coach Hugh McCutcheon said. "They present some challenges for us an made us adjust and we were able to accomplish that."

Danielle Scott-Arruda and Jordan Larsen each added 11 points for the Americans, who play Peru (2-1) tonight.
