BLACK DIAMOND, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks fullback Owen Schmitt was arrested by Washington State Patrol troopers for investigation of drunken driving.
The Seattle Times reports that Schmitt was arrested Saturday night in Black Diamond, southeast of Seattle. Citing police reports, the Times says Schmitt's blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.151 and 0.161. The legal limit in Washington is 0.08.
Schmitt released a written statement through the team Thursday, saying he apologizes to the team, the NFL, the fans and his family and friends for his actions and poor judgment.
In his second year as a Seahawk, Schmitt is expected to compete for the starting fullback job this season.
