As a south swell rolls in, city lifeguards are urging beachgoers to practice caution.
As high surf continued to roll into Oahu’s south shore, city lifeguards today made seven rescues at Waikiki Beach and three at Ala Moana Beach Park.

Surf has been in the 5- to 8-foot range and another swell is expected to arrive tomorrow and last into Saturday.
“The pattern of above average southerly surf looks like it will persist through the weekend and into early next week,” emergency services spokesman Bryan Cheplic said in a statement.
Cheplic urged beachgoers to exercise caution, to consult with lifeguards before entering the water, swim with a friend and heed warning signs.
