Fundraiser will help finance Falls of Clyde drydock work

Advertiser Staff

The Friends of the Falls of Clyde will hold a fundraiser June 30 to help with drydock costs for the sailing ship.

The event will run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Dillingham Transportation Building's mauka arcade, 741 Bishop St.

Tickets are $40, with $20 designated as a tax-deductible donation to the Friends of the Falls of Clyde.

The Friends also will launch the Bob Krauss Million Quarter Drive. Patterned after the Million Penny Drive the late Advertiser columnist established nearly 50 years ago to bring the ship to Hawai'i, the money will be used to begin initial preservation work after the ship returns to Pier 7 in early August.

The Falls of Clyde is being prepared for drydock so marine experts can analyze the work that needs to be done in order to restore and preserve the ship.
