AMES, Iowa — Iowa State football coach Paul Rhoads has signed the five-year, $5.75 million contract he agreed to in December.
Rhoads will be paid $950,000 this season. His annual compensation will increase by $100,000 every year starting January 1, 2010.
Rhoads will receive an additional $100,000 for every win after Iowa State's seventh in any given season. The Cyclones have won more than seven games just once since 1978.
Rhoads will also receive $100,000 for a Big 12 championship game appearance and an additional $100,000 if the Cyclones win the conference title. Rhoads also has incentives tied to bowl game appearances, coach of the year honors and final rankings in the top 25.
Rhoads took over for Gene Chizik, who left to become the coach at Auburn.
