CBKB: Cronin gets 2-year extension at Cincinnati

CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati has given men's basketball coach Mick Cronin a two-year contract extension as he works to rebuild the program.
Cronin, a one-time assistant to Bob Huggins at Cincinnati, took over the program in March 2006, a year after Huggins was forced out by then-president Nancy Zimpher.
Athletic Director Mike Thomas said Monday that Cronin's contract would be continued through the 2013-2014 season, pending approval by university trustees. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The Bearcats are 42-52 in three years under Cronin but have shown progress, going 18-14 last season.
