Army set to celebrate 234th birthday on Wednesday
The U.S. Army is turning 234 years old next week, and plans to host a birthday celebration on Wednesday involving Army children on O'ahu.
Army children participating in the School Age Services programs for grades K through five will make care packages for soldiers serving in Iraq, and take field trips to Pearl Harbor, the Pacific Aviation Museum and the Tropic Lighting Museum at Schofield Barracks.
Children in grades six to 12 will participate in a scavenger hunt to find historic Army sites and places of interest.
Also, state Rep. Michael Magaoay, D-46th (Schofield, Mokule'ia, North Shore), will read an Army birthday story to children at the Helemano Child Development Center.
