A FILM FEST WITH THE KEIKI IN MIND
It's quickly becoming as popular an annual affair as any of the bigger events, and this year's Kids First! Film Festival takes things up a notch by including in its program a short-attention-span environmental film fest.
With a full schedule of fun and entertaining films for the keiki, from classics like "The Velveteen Rabbit" to nouveau fare like the French-made "Chasing Dragons" (right), it's hard to believe that all of that, plus more, is free.
The film fest, now in its third year, is sponsored by the University of Hawai'i Outreach College and locally curated. Last year, the little film fest that could won the best community film series award at the national Kids First! Best Awards in Hollywood.
Kids First! Film Festival / Saturday, Thursday and July 12 and 19 (all films screen at 3 p.m.) / UH-Manoa Art Auditorium / For a full schedule of films, as well as synopses, visit www.outreach.hawaii.edu/summer
