'Opaeka'a Bridge work starts next week, will take 11 weeks
Rehabilitation work on 'Opaeka'a Bridge in Wailua Homesteads on Kaua'i is scheduled to begin June 15.
The project is expected to take about 11 weeks to complete.
During the first three weeks of the rehabilitation, the bridge will be closed to traffic on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Thereafter, the bridge will be closed completely until the project is finished.
Work includes installation of additional metal beams under the bridge as a safety measure, while the design phase for the repair and replacement of the bridge is under way.
