Deputy Police Chief Paul Putzulu will serve as acting police chief upon current Chief Boisse Correa’s departure in August.
Putzulu is a 37-year veteran of the force and has been deputy chief since 2002.
Correa’s five-year contract runs out in August. The city Police Commission last month chose not to offer him a new five-year contract.
Putzulu will serve until a permanent successor is chosen.
