KIHEI, Maui — A moped driver is in critical condition at Maui Memorial Medical Center following a collision with a pickup truck yesterday on South Kihei Road, police said.

The crash occurred at about 8:45 p.m. when the south-bound moped hit the truck in front of it as the vehicle was turning right into a driveway. The 23-year-old Kihei man who was operating the moped was not wearing protective gear, police said.
The 59-year-old woman driving the truck and her passenger were not injured.
