Fire department personnel last night recovered the body of a man off the Hilton Hawaiian Village pier.

The Fire Department received a call about 9:30 p.m. about a man in the water off the hotel. Fire personnel spotted the body about 50 feet off the pier and brought it to shore.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A companion of the man, who is believed to have been out diving, identified the body. Police opened an unattended-death case.
