Recent theft crimes aimed at the elderly have the Kauai Police Department asking the public for help with any information they may have.
In the past couple of weeks, police have had several reports of two or three women asking senior citizens if they are in need of home repairs or various home services. In one report, the women were given a deposit for services they never returned to complete.
“It’s always disheartening to hear of our elderly being victimized,” Assistant Chief Roy Asher said.
In another report, the victim invited the women into the house. The women then proceeded to take money and jewelry before leaving.
“We are doing our best to solve these cases, and would like to ask the public for their assistance,” Asher said.
Anyone with information about these recent theft cases can contact Police Dispatch at 808-241-1711 or CrimeStoppers at 808-241-1887.
