Hawaii Prep and Oregon alum, Max Unger, signs with Seahawks for $1.95M guaranteed

SEATTLE — The Seattle Seahawks agreed to a four-year contract with offensive lineman Max Unger, their second-round choice in the April draft.

That leaves just one rookie unsigned: No. 4 overall pick Aaron Curry.
The deal will pay Unger a guaranteed $1.95 million and has a total value of more than $3.5 million.
Unger was a player Seattle liked so much the Seahawks considered picking him with the No. 37th pick. That consideration ended when the Broncos offered their first-round in 2010 for the pick.
When Unger was still on the board at No. 49, the Seahawks traded their third- and fourth-round picks to move back into the second round and snag Unger, a versatile lineman who played tackle his first two years at Oregon and then moved to center for his final two seasons.
Unger played left guard during the offseason minicamps, a spot where Mike Wahle was the starter when last year began. Wahle missed Seattle’s offseason minicamps after undergoing shoulder surgery, and Unger is expected to compete for playing time at guard or center during training camp.
Unger will report Thursday with Seattle’s rookies. The team’s first practice is Friday at 3:30.
Unger is a 2004 Hawaii Prep graduate.
