The University of Hawai‘i football team was picked to finish fifth in the Western Athletic Conference in the coaches and media preseason polls.
Boise State was picked to finish first in both polls.

The Warriors, under second-year head coach Greg McMackin, open fall camp Aug. 6. UH faces Central Arkansas, Sept. 4, at Aloha Stadium, in its season opener.
The polls were announced today at the annual football media preview at Salt Lake City.
The media picked Nevada quarterback Colin Kaepernick preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson was picked as the preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Boise State finished 12-1 last season and won the WAC regular season title with an 8-0 mark. The Broncos lost to TCU in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
The Warriors were 7-7 last year, finishing in a three-way tie for second in the WAC (5-3), before losing to Notre Dame in the Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl.
