MINNEAPOLIS — The agent for Percy Harvin is expected to open negotiations in earnest with Minnesota this week in hopes of getting his client signed by the time the Vikings report to training camp on Thursday.
Agent Joel Segal says he formed a special bond with Harvin while dealing with adversity at the NFL scouting combine in February. Harvin tested positive for marijuana at the combine, which initially hurt his draft stock.
But with Segal’s help, Harvin was able to get past that mistake and convince the Vikings that his troubles were behind him. The Vikings selected the Florida star with the 22nd pick overall and raved about getting such a talented receiver.
Harvin thanked Segal profusely at his introductory press conference for helping him navigate the situation.
