Well repair restores Moloka'i water supply

After more than a week of restricted water usage among Moloka'i residents, repairs to the Kualapu'u well have been completed and water is flowing again to the 1 million-gallon Kaunakakai holding tank.
Maui County officials announced the completion of the work yesterday.
Since July 17, residents and businesses had been asked to severely limit nonessential water use to save the limited amount of water remaining in the holding tank.
That resulted in most of Moloka'i's 28 dialysis patients having to be temporarily relocated off island because of the risk of lacking water required to run dialysis treatment equipment. All patients have since returned to Moloka'i, county officials said.
