AT&T customers reporting trouble with their phones can expect more interruption of service until tomorrow afternoon or evening, according to a customer service representative.
Kimberly Coleman, with AT&T, said the company is aware of the problem and is working on it. After checking into the AT&T information system, Coleman couldn’t say how widespread the problem is, only that Hawaiçi is having issues.
“It’s saying some customers are able to make or receive calls but they’re dropping,” she said. “Some people can not make or receive at all. It’s like across the Hawaiçi area.”
Dawn Nekorchuk, who works downtown, said her iPhone hasn’t worked properly since about 9 a.m. today, but she only noticed the problem because another co-worker asked her about her own iPhone.
“There’s no service, no bars,” Nekorchuk said. “You can’t make any calls and I didn’t have data earlier but now I have very, very slow data.”
Calls to the local AT&T office were not returned.
Another AT&T customer who works at Pearl Harbor and didn’t want to be identified said service is sporadic and his friends are tweeting about it. His iPhone had bars but when he called his office land line, the call didn’t go through.
Coleman, a customer service representative, apologized for the problems and said it should be cleared up tomorrow.
“They’re saying hopefully some time tomorrow afternoon or evening,” she said.
