DALLAS — Receiver Jesse Holley is joining the Dallas Cowboys, courtesy of Michael Irvin.
Holley was revealed Monday night as the winner of “4th and Long,” the reality show on the Spike network organized and hosted by Irvin. Holley’s prize is the 80th spot on the Cowboys’ training-camp roster and a standard rookie contract.
Holley outlasted five other receivers and six defensive backs. It might’ve helped that he’s a lot like Irvin — tall and flamboyant, with a big smile and lots of charisma.
Holley won a national championship as a backup point guard on North Carolina’s 2005 college basketball team, then gave up basketball to concentrate on football. He spent several weeks on the Cincinnati Bengals’ practice squad in 2007, but hasn’t gotten another shot at the NFL until now.
