Surfer hospitalized on Big Island after hitting rocks

A surfer was injured today at Manuka Beach Park on the Big Island when he hit the rocks, firefighters said.
Rescue crews said the man in his 40s was brought ashore by other people at the beach at about 2:45 p.m.
The bystanders performed CPR until rescue crews arrived. A helicopter took the man to Kona Community Hospital.
