WAILUKU, Maui — A Maui woman has been ordered to perform 300 hours of community service for stealing more than $3,000 from a Girl Scout troop.

Second Circuit Court Judge Richard Bissen also sentenced Anne Marie Cordoba of Kula to five years’ probation.
The 41-year-old stole $3,276 from the Girl Scout troop when she was their treasurer by forging troop checks.
Cordorba was originally charged with second-degree theft and six counts of second-degree forgery.
Under an agreement with prosecutors, she pleaded no contest to the theft charge and two of the forgery charges.
Deputy Prosecutor Mark Simonds says the Girl Scout leaders and organization didn’t want to see Cordoba jailed but wanted her to be held accountable.
Bissen sentenced Cordoba on Wednesday.
