The Institute of Native Pacific Education and Culture is offering a free program to prepare children for kindergarten.

The Keiki Steps to Kindergarten has locations in Hau'ula, Waiahole and Waimanalo, teaching children the basic rules of the classroom.

In Hawai'i, 61 percent of children have had some school experience before kindergarten. Research reveals that children who have the benefit of pre-kindergarten programs are more prepared and tend to do better in the first three grades.

The programs are offered with the support of Kamehameha Schools.
