Some fast-food salads pack more fat than a cheeseburger. Dietician Dawn Jackson Blatner chose these and suggests calorie-cutting tips for high flavor and low saturated fat.

McDonald's: Premium Bacon Ranch Salad with Grilled Chicken (345 calories, 16.5 g fat, 5.25 g saturated). Bacon makes it seem naughty, but the portion keeps it nice — if you use half the dressing.

Wendy's: Mandarin Chicken Salad with Grilled Chicken Fillet (385 calories, 18 g fat, 2.25 g saturated). Almonds supply lots of crunch, so nix the noodles and use half the dressing.

Burger King: Tendergrill Chicken Garden Salad (390 calories, 20 g fat, 4.5 g saturated). Three cheeses and garlic croutons — yum. Just opt for the light Italian dressing.

Taco Bell: Chicken Fiesta Taco Salad (420 calories, 16 g fat, 5 g saturated). Say adios to the tortilla shell and this cheesy bowl becomes a safe bet.

PREGNANCY

JOB STRESS LINKED TO RISKS

Job stress during early pregnancy increases the risk of low infant birth weight, according to a study published by the American Journal of Public Health.

Dutch researchers analyzing questionnaires from 8,266 pregnant women on employment and work conditions found a work week 32 hours or more and high job strain during the first trimester was associated with the greatest birth-weight reduction and highest risk of delivering a small-for-gestational-age baby.

While women often reduce hours near the end of their pregnancies, researchers concluded reducing work hours and job stress early in a pregnancy may be beneficial.
