A man who ran onto Kamehameha Highway last night was hit by a car and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

At about 10:34 p.m., a 30- to 40-year-old man from Hauula was driving north on the highway toward Kokololio Beach Park when he collided into the 30-year-old man from Lä’ie.
The victim suffered an open head wound and internal injuries, police said.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of negligent injury. Alcohol was not a factor in the collision, but speed may have been, police said.
The man was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.
