NEW YORK — Fans at Citi Field booed the free-falling New York Mets even more loudly than they jeered Manny Ramirez — before he got ejected.

Ramirez drove in three runs with two singles, then was ejected for throwing equipment following his second called strikeout. That was the highlight as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat what's left of the Mets, 8-0, last night.

"It's OK, I was coming out in the fifth inning," Ramirez said playfully.

With the Dodgers winning a laugher, manager Joe Torre could smile at that one.

"He told me that, too. I wasn't aware of that before that," Torre said. "It was about time to ask him, but I didn't need to."

Clayton Kershaw (6-5) combined with three relievers on a four-hitter, pinch-hitter Blake DeWitt hit a seventh-inning homer off Tim Redding that hit off the front of the second deck in left field and Los Angeles twice scored with bases-loaded walks.

New York has lost nine of 11 and gone scoreless in 22 consecutive innings, getting just 10 hits — all singles.

"When you don't hit or hit singles, you're a team that looks lethargic, and that's what we are right now," New York manager Jerry Manuel said.

While losing four straight, which includes a weekend sweep in Philadelphia, the Mets have hit .183, been outscored 21-3 and struck out 28 times. David Wright went 0 for 3 with a walk and is hitless in his last 16 at-bats as the Mets have dropped into fourth place, 4 1/2 games behind the NL East-leading Phillies.

In four games since returning from a 50-game suspension, Ramirez is batting .273 (3 for 11) with one homer and four RBIs.

Ramon Hernandez hit a tiebreaking RBI single off Brad Lidge (0-4) in the top of the ninth inning and All-Star closer Francisco Cordero finished for his 21st save in 22 chances, lifting Cincinnati over Philadelphia.

Javier Vazquez (6-7) allowed a run and five hits in seven innings and Brian McCann had a pair of two-out RBIs as host Atlanta Braves beat Chicago and Carlos Zambrano (4-4), who was pitching in place of Ryan Dempster.

Jack Wilson hit a two-run homer in the third inning and an RBI single in a four-run seventh as visiting Pittsburgh beat Houston to end a three-game losing streak.

ROCKIES 5, NATIONALS 4:

Clint Barmes' bases-loaded sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning came after two walks and a throwing error on a comebacker to the mound, lifting Colorado over Washington.

GIANTS 3, MARLINS 0:

Juan Uribe hit a two-run homer, Barry Zito (5-8) scattered four hits over 8 1/3 innings and Sergio Romo got the final two outs as San Francisco beat Florida for its major-league leading 12th shutout of the season.

DIAMONDBACKS 4, PADRES 3:

Doug Davis (4-8) gave up two runs and nine hits in 6 1/3 innings for his first victory in a month and host Arizona matched its season-best four-game winning streak by beating San Diego.

CARDINALS 5, BREWERS 0:

Adam Wainwright (9-5) spaced seven hits with nine strikeouts, coming within two outs of his first career shutout, and Ryan Ludwick and Colby Rasmus hit homers to lead visiting St. Louis over Milwaukee.

TIGERS 8, ROYALS 5:

Marcus Thames hit a three-run homer, and Miguel Cabrera and Placido Polanco also homered in support of Justin Verlander (9-4), who gave up five runs and seven hits with 11 strikeouts for host Detroit.

Josh Beckett (10-3) allowed two runs and six hits over 6 2/3 innings to join teammate Tim Wakefield as 10-game winners, and fellow All-Star Jason Bay hit his 20th homer to lead host Boston past Oakland.

Pat Burrell, mired in a 4-for-34 slump, hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning to lift Tampa Bay over Toronto, ending a four-game losing streak that included three losses to rookie pitchers.

CC Sabathia (8-5) allowed one run on three hits in seven innings, Mark Teixeira had four hits and Brett Gardner added three hits and two RBIs as visiting New York roughed up Minnesota.

Paul Konerko hit a career-high three home runs, including a go-ahead grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Mark Buehrle (9-2) allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings to lead Chicago over Cleveland.

ORIOLES 12, MARINERS 4:

Luke Scott hit a two-run single in the first inning, a two-run triple in the four-run sixth and a two-run homer in the six-run seventh to power visiting Baltimore past Seattle.

RANGERS 8, ANGELS 5:

Andruw Jones hit a three-run homer and Jarrod Saltalamacchia added a two-run single, all off John Lackey (3-4) with two outs in a six-run fifth inning as visiting Texas erased a 3-0 deficit to beat Los Angeles.
