College: Utah Valley officially Division I

OREM, Utah — Utah Valley has completed the jump from junior college athletics to NCAA Division I.
The Wolverines have spent the last six years as an NCAA provisional school, meaning they could compete in Division I but were not eligible for postseason play.
Athletic director Mike Jacobsen learned Tuesday that Utah Valley had been approved by the NCAA to lift the provisional tag.
The school was known as Utah Valley State College and was competing as a junior college when it first applied to the NCAA nine years ago. The school officially became Utah Valley University a year ago and fields teams in 15 NCAA sports.
