Times Supermarkets is acquiring Star Market
The parent company of Times Supermarket said today it is acquiring Star Market’s seven locations across the state.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the transaction is expected to close in early September, according to a news release from Times.
The acquisition will give Times a presence on the Neighbor Islands for the first time, and expand its share of the Oahu market, which is dominated by Safeway and Foodland.
The Fujieki family, which opened Star Markets in the 1920s, decided earlier this year to leave the grocery business “and felt Times provided the best future for its employees and customers,” QSI Inc. said in a news release.
Times is operated locally by QSI Inc., a unit of PAQ inc., of Stockton, Calif.
