HANGING OUT WITH BRUDDAH BARRY
In a nod to the 50th anniversary of our statehood, and to Hawai'i's greatest statesman, Hawaiian Island Creations has created a Bruddah Barry boardshort.
It comes in patriotic red or Rasta colors and features President Obama's face and his familiar shaka sign. They're sold at Macy's stores and Hawaiian Island Creations for $52. A limited edition, they'll only be around for a short time.

SUMMER PLUMAGE THAT STANDS OUT IN THE FLOCK
Feathers are a huge summer rage. The lightweight accessory can be worn several different ways, and can go from bohemian to artsy. But wearing feathers can be a little tricky after all, you don't want to end up looking like a bird gone wild. With the right styling, though (think Carrie Bradshaw in "Sex and the City"), you can pull together the perfect summer look. Exotic feathers can get a bit pricey, but at Jessica's Traveling Boutique, you can choose from a variety of one-of-a-kind feather headbands and clips ranging from $6 to $24. For a listing of Jessica's Traveling Boutique special events, or to book a private party, e-mail info@jessicastravelingboutique.com.

INDULGE YOUR SWEET TOOTH WITH EYE CANDY JEWELRY
We asked the owner of iKandy, a kiosk at Pearlridge that sells fashion accessories, "So. What's the latest trend for summer?" Christina Patino pointed to her latest collection of necklaces with ice cream, candy, and cupcake pendants.
She said, "I just buy things that I like and share it here; I don't know if it's a trend you find in magazines because I don't really pay attention to that. But these are really popular."
We think they're cute, too. They're colorful novelties that you won't see anywhere else except maybe at the dessert bar. And at just $10 to $16, you can try two. iKandy, Pearlridge Center; 808-861-3733, www.iKandy.com, iKandyOhana@gmail.com.

'THE WEDDING SINGER' STAGED IN 1985 STYLES
If there is one job that is meant for the brash and the bold, it would be ... wedding singer. Constantly in the spotlight, expected to perform, entice and romance a crowd of strangers it isn't an easy job, but could, of course, provide romantic potential.
To get a comic feel for the job, you could rent "The Wedding Singer," for Adam Sandler's rendition, but if you want to experience those laughs live, try the musical on-stage action at Diamond Head Theatre.
"The Wedding Singer," set in 1985, will transport you to the time of big hair and music you know all the lyrics to.
Thomas McCurdy, inset, plays the lead character, Robbie. Show dates are July 10 to 26; get tickets, $12 to $42, at the Diamond Head Theatre box office, 520 Makapu'u Ave.; 733-0277, www.diamondheadtheatre.com.
