Honolulu firefighters this afternoon successfully contained a wildfire that consumed about 25 acres of land just west of Central Oahu Regional Park.
Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said firefighters responded to the blaze about 11:30 a.m. and had the fire contained by about 1 p.m. Crews remain on the scene mopping up.
Seelig said 45 firefighters, eight engines, three tankers and the department’s helicopter — which was used for aerial observation and coordination of units on the ground — were deployed.
Seelig said the fire didn’t get close to any homes.
