Megan Tinnin made a layup with 17.5 seconds left to give the University of Hawaii women's basketball team a 63-61 victory over Utah State tonight in Logan, Utah.
The victory snaps the Rainbow Wahine's eight-game losing streak and gives them their first road win and WAC win of the year.
With the score tied at 61-61, Dita Liepkalne took the ball at the top of the key and found a cutting Tinnin on the block, who made the layup for the lead. Utah State had two attempts in the closing seconds, but both a 3-pointer and a jumper came up short.
UH improved to 4-16 overall and 1-6 in conference play. Utah State dropped to 10-11 overall and 4-4 in WAC action.
Tinnin led the Rainbow Wahine with a season-high 22 points, going 8 for 12 from the field, including a 4-of-7 effort from 3-point range.
