What's that I hear? Dolphins are singing at Tenney Theatre?

Actually, the Honolulu Theatre for Youth is performing "The Music of Dolphins," the story of 12-year-old Mila, who has been raised by dolphins since she was 4. When she's "rescued" by the Coast Guard, researchers try to teach her language and music, but she also learns about rules, locked doors, broken promises, disappointment and betrayal.

Recommended for children age 8 and up, the play was adapted for stage by Tanya Palmer from the book by Newbery Award-winning author Karen Hesse. It features Nina Buck as Mila, Maile Holck as Dr. Beck and Junior Tesoro as Justin and Sam. Kim Gennaula and Guy Hagi appear in a video cameo.

Performances are 4:30 p.m. today and all other Saturdays through Feb. 28. Tickets are $8 for children and seniors, $16 for adults; active-duty military receive one free child admission with the purchase of a regularly priced adult ticket; 457-4254 or www.htyweb.org.
