MIAMI — The Miami Dolphins fired offensive line coach Mike Maser on Thursday after one season with the team, the first shake-up in head coach Tony Sparano's staff.

Sparano became coach a year ago and led the turnaround from a 1-15 record in 2007 to 11-6 and a playoff berth in 2008.

The offensive line is considered one of the Dolphins' weakest areas, despite the addition of tackle Jake Long, the first overall pick in the 2007 draft. Miami struggled to run consistently from its base offense last season.

Former University of Hawaii's Samson Satele has been the team's starting center the past two seasons.

Maser has been an NFL offensive line coach for 14 seasons. He was out of football in 2007, but was the first assistant hired by Sparano last year.
