LOS ANGELES — "The Dark Knight" could soar away with several trophies tonight at the 35th annual People's Choice Awards. The Batman film will vie for awards in such categories as favorite cast, action movie, on-screen matchup and superhero.
Other multiple movie nominees include "Iron Man" and "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull."
The fan-favorite CBS ceremony is hosted by Queen Latifah and returns to the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles for its typical star-studded live show format, following last year's writer's strike-friendly, pre-taped program.
The truncated 2008 edition featured music, film and television stars accepting their trophies on location, not on stage.
Awards selected by Internet balloting will be presented in over 40 categories, including favorite talk-show host, scene-stealing guest star, rock song and leading lady. Four categories will remain open for online voting through the first hour of the live broadcast: favorite new TV comedy, new TV drama, online sensation and user-generated video.
